One of the priorities of the center is providing an overview of information regarding Jewish and Jewish-related archival materials kept in Jewish and non-Jewish archives.

JAS members are not only national but international scientists and practitioners, which facilitates research of related archives abroad. Since its foundation, a special research interest lies in the State Archives in Dubrovnik, Croatia. In 2014 Center JAS initiated a project targeting its Criminal Court Registers. The subject of the project was the research, inventory, and cataloguing of three archival series, totalling 297 volumes and approximately 180,000 pages, resulting in inventory and catalogue with regesta. In 2019 Centre JAS launched a new project of indexing and cataloguing Dubrovnik archives, providing basic information on their origin and content and what kind of data about (mostly) Sephardi Jews are to be anticipated. The project entitled Jews in the Fonds of the State Archives in Dubrovnik (13th Century – 1814) was completed at the end of 2021
